EuroCIS 2025 – Technology Trends in Retail for 2025

EuroCIS has taken place last month in Düsseldorf, Germany. With over 14,000 visitors from 95 countries and over 500 exhibitors from all around the world, retail technologies, trends, and solutions were showcased over a three-day period, reflecting the current pulse of retail.

Key focus areas included AI and its growing applicability in day-to-day retail operations, customer centricity, smart stores, sustainability, and cyber security. A separate pavilion was dedicated to drone technology, including applications in security and defense.

Retailers at the show were seeking maturity of solutions and speed to market, along with efficiency and lower cost of onboarding of new solutions. Vendors offered cloud based solutions and technology to address fast adoption and perpetual relevance in features and capabilities, to ensure that retailers’ needs are met continuously, without high cost upgrades and costly downtime.

The latest and greatest of Oracle Retail

Our solution vendor partner Oracle has showcased the latest release of its Point of Service solution XStore, demonstrating fast item scanning and promotion application sufficiently performant for Grocery application. New features include self-checkout and the ability to work with multiple technologies in item scanning, including RFID and traditional QR or barcodes.

When talking with retailer representatives at the event, their key focus areas echoed that of the EuroCIS show: They are looking for vendors with a clear roadmap dedicated to the retail business needs, including a clear roadmap for application of growing AI capabilities in all areas of the retail business enterprise from stores to transportation, distribution, and headquarter ERP operations.

Peek and Cloppenburg Düsseldorf has presented their comprehensive journey of transitioning to Oracle solutions from their current SAP technology footprint, impacting virtually all aspects of their business operations from finance to logistics, planning, and merchandising.

WE Fashion also has presented their cloud adoption journey as it begins modernizing its entire retail business operations by transitioning to the latest Oracle Retail cloud solutions. WE Fashion will leverage core merchandising capabilities along with state of the art Retail AI Foundation of Oracle to improve operational efficiency, automate best practices, and optimize assortment and inventory across all stores and online.
