Support Options for Oracle Retail Cloud Extensions
- Have you extended Oracle Retail solutions and you are wondering how support works for such extensions?
- Are you uncertain about your options?
- Are you worried you will be left without support on your extensions?
Leave the headache and worry of custom cloud extension support behind and rest easy with Quickborn’s extension support service!
Oracle Retail Cloud Solutions have a state-of-the-art extensibility capability via the Retail Data Store (RDS). RDS gives retailers the ability to extend functionality in their cloud solution without impacting base solutions’ upgradeability.
Because extensions built on the RDS are not part of the base solution, the standard SaaS subscription does not cover their support. They are treated as custom code, for which support is to be procured by retailers independently. There are several options for supporting extensions on Oracle Retail Cloud Services, depending on the publisher of the extensions and the retailers’ specific circumstances and needs.
- Oracle’s Value Add extensions are sold by Oracle as an on premise license and are covered under an ongoing maintenance from Oracle. This means retailers who purchased and deployed on RDS extensions from the Oracle Retail Value Add Extension library get each year two updates from Oracle for those extensions. The retailer is then responsible for patching, testing and production transitioning patches from Oracle. Quickborn supports retailers in patching, testing and production transitioning patches from Oracle on a regular basis.
- Quickborn’s Extensions are developed and sold by Quickborn from its growing library of pre-built functionality extensions and cloud operation support tools for Oracle’s Retail Cloud Solutions. Quickborn’s extensions not only come with regular updates, similar to Oracle’s value add extensions, but are also covered by a complementary service from Quickborn that patches, tests and production transitions extensions for Quickborn’s retailer customers on an ongoing basis.
- Third party extensions are typically supported by their author under a separate support service agreement, if available. Quickborn support services transitions any extension built by a third party to Quickborn’s support program and warrants transitioned extensions under its own support service following successful transition.
